Man United’s 20-year-old midfielder Devonte Redmond has signed for Scunthorpe United on a six-month loan deal, lasting until January 2018.
It’s likely the clubs and player will re-evaluate the situation come late December to make a decision on whether the loan should be extended until the end of the season.
Birthdate: September 19, 1996 (20)

Birthplace: Manchester, England
Utilised in a striking role like Matty Willock and Scott McTominay were at under-23 level last season, Redmond coped and will have added valuable attacking attributes to his game from that experience. He’s captained United youth sides at younger levels.
He remains, clearly, a midfielder, though. At 6ft, he moves across the pitch smoothly, covers ground well and never stops working, only helping him when played as a striker.
Redmond’s U23 stats:
Graham Alexander, Redmond’s new manager at Scunthorpe, said that the club have “been looking for central midfield players, and he was highlighted to us.”
“We know a little bit about him from watching Manchester United games last season, and it was important that we got the right type of character and player to compete with the players we have here.
“He came across on Wednesday and met me and I met him and his dad. We had a good chat before the game against Sunderland.
“I wanted him to come over to see how we do things and get a feel for the match day here at Glanford Park.
“It was down to him to make the decision and he’s now agreed to join us on loan.”
“He’s got loads of energy. He can handle and pass the ball with both feet and he’s an exciting, young talent at Manchester United.
“They think highly of him and we’re really pleased to get him on board with us.”
