Axel Tuanzebe earned his second award at youth level for Manchester United on Thursday night as he was named Denzil Haroun Reserve Team Player of the Year at under-23 level.
The England under-20 defender, who made his debut against Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup this season and has since played thrice more, was named Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year (under-18 level) in 2015.
The only other player in United history to win both awards was Italian striker Giuseppe Rossi in 2005 and 2006.
Tuanzebe was almost a contender for Man of the Match in every under-23 game in the first half of the season. His dominance from central defence, controlling the game despite his deep position, and the leadership shown was magnificent.
He has been utilised at right-back and in central midfield by José Mourinho in the past fortnight, impressing with three solid displays.
When awards presenter Rachel Riley joked that he’d be returning for the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award (first team), he said, “that is the dream; to be a leader and a role model at this club.
