Two Manchester United sides have progressed to the quarter-final of the Mediterranean International Cup (MIC) after a number of big wins.
The under-16s had 2-0, 7-0 and 4-0 victories in Group A as they finished top comfortably to secure a place in the round of 32.
A goal from Mason Greenwood and a brace from Mipo Odubeko saw United beat AC Brea 3-1 to set up a round of 16 match against AEC Manlleu.
Second half strikes from Ethan Laird and Mason Greenwood sandwiched an equaliser for Manlleu, but United progressed thanks to that late Greenwood goal, meaning a morning quarter-final against RCD Espanyol with an 8:30AM kick-off (BST).
Meanwhile, at under-12 level, United also topped their group. With two wins and a draw, United finished first in Group B with seven points. They defeated Uno Sports World A 7-0, drew 0-0 with UE Figueres and blasted Sydney Olympic FC away with 13 goals.
That secured a straight path to the round of 16 where United beat RBC 5-0 thanks to two goals from Kobbie Mainoo in the first half as Charlie Veevers, Ethan Hull and Harley O’Grady-Macken netted in the second. They’ll face Tuttifutbol Academy at 8AM tomorrow in the MIC quarter-final.
