In the space of just 30 minutes, Manchester United’s high-flying under-18s tore apart a young Wolves side, scoring five for the fourth time this season as they stayed top of the U18 Premier League. The first came just a couple of minutes into the game as Tahith Chong crossed to Boonen for the Belgian’s 5th goal of the season.
Boonen and United’s tally was doubled in the 19th minute after an excellent counter-attack. Wolves hit a free-kick straight at United’s wall and Kieran McKenna’s side broke at pace, Nishan Burkart providing Boonen with the chance to make it two.
It was only a five-minute wait for the next goal, DJ Buffonge finishing a good move on the left flank at Wolves’ Compton training ground. Two more followed very quickly after, from summer signing Nishan Burkart first and then another arrival that has settled in with stunning ease in Tahith Chong.
United’s youngsters were, perhaps understandingly, less ruthless in the second half, comfortable with their five-goal lead.
